Small-scale process design for real production ideas.

About Barclays Lab LLC

Barclays Lab is a small, independent engineering studio focused on practical process designs for small-scale manufacturing.

The work centers on simple, buildable systems (such as botanical extraction, liquid formulation, and small food production) designed to help bridge the gap between early-stage ideas and real production.

Efforts are focused on modest, modular setups that can realistically be implemented by small operators, farms, or early-stage businesses. The goal is to understand how these systems behave in practice: what they require, how they scale, and what they can actually produce.

Projects begin at a conceptual level and are explored through small prototypes, basic process layouts, and cost estimates. Over time, these are refined into clearer production concepts that can be evaluated or developed further.

This work is ongoing and currently is not focusing on presenting finished industrial solutions, but places higher priority on building a clear understanding of how small manufacturing systems can be designed, tested, and improved.

Founder

Barclays Lab is developed by John Octavio B. Adams, a Engineer in Training (EIT certification) graduate Bachelor in Sciences in Chemical Engineering from the University of North Dakota.

This project reflects his ongoing effort to continue working in the field, developing ideas, testing concepts, and building a body of work, centered on real-world chemical engineering problems.

Location

Barclays Lab is based in Grand Forks, North Dakota.

The region provides access to agricultural production, small manufacturing, and a growing interest in local processing, making it a practical environment for developing and testing small-scale systems.
