DISHONORABLE GENTLEMEN BE HITHER AND THITHER ACT 1 PEASANT 1: PART 2

A year would pass, and it was Jeffery’s eleventh gathering. He took a bouquet of flowers, bought with the last hope he had. A minute passed, ten, twenty, an hour, a second hour. It was hopeless until he saw her familiar silhouette holding another bouquet of flowers.

“Whose flowers were they?” Jeffery thought. “Who had given them to her?”

He could not handle the ache and hollowness in his chest. He could not handle losing the one person he ever loved. He took off his brass ring and took off his rose. He put them into his pocket and looked for a jeweler and florist to return them.

Jeffery felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see Ella’s eyes, staring back at his simple face. His stomach shriveled as he awaited bad news, and his brain spun as he received a bouqet of flowers.

“What? What are you doing?” He asked. “Go back to whoever gave them to you!”

“Why they are for you, silly!” She would say simply. “And…are those flowers for me?” She asked seeing Jeffery about to throw his bouquet away.

“Why…by God’s grace I am so sorry, my love. I thought I would never love again. They are for you, silly!” Jeffery answered with enthusiasm.

Five years later, they married. After one year came Mary and Tyler, after one year came Jacob, and a year after that came Hollie. Ella had given the world four people that would lead the same tale, just how Jeffery and Ella had been born to lead the same tale as their ancestors did. For eleven years after Hollie was born, the whole family would stay in that little village near Bristol, still serving the humble chicken life. Jeffery and Ella were thirty, Mary and Tyler are fourteen, Jacob turned thirteen, and Hollie was twelve. All was well in their simple living.

Then the coughs came.

He could not handle the heartbreak. He could not handle losing the one person he loved. He took his brass ring and his rose off. He put them into his pocket to get his money back.

It would be after five years that they would marry. After one year came Mary and Tyler, after one year came Jacob, and a year after that came Hollie. For eleven years after Hollie was born, the whole family would stay in that little village near Bristol, still serving the humble chicken life. Jeffery and Ella would both be thirty, Mary and Tyler would be fourteen, Jacob would be thirteen, and Hollie would be twelve. All would be well in their simple living, until the coughs came.
